haikU:
www.preneo.com/nwylde/haikU/
HaikU is an homage to early
net artists/programmers who created random haiku (a form of Japanese
poetry) sites. They brought poetry, collaboration, and inspiration
to the web by hinting at the possibilities of net.art at the very
beginning.
HaikU calls on three databases of potential haiku
lines to randomly create a poem for any given moment in time. The
challenge of writing successful random haiku, is that each line must
be 'open' enough to create a connection with any two other random
haiku lines. Successful random haiku develop an image in the
reader's mind that gives cause for
contemplation/reflection/awareness.
HaikU invites the net
audience, to collaborate by writing individual lines of haiku and
submitting them to the haiku database. Contributions are immediately
available to HaikU.
Written in Perl. Requires server
connection.

is a one page website. It was created with Javascript. Upon entry,
the reader presses the "Let me tell you a story" button, and a story
is created for that moment in time. - All platforms with

Modular animations
randomly flow together within a rhythmic and thematic structure. The
traditional dramatic convention of beginning, middle and end is
subverted with a continually looping narrative architecture. The
underlying software functions as narrative engine, randomly
rearranging a series of discrete animations.
