Operation CNTRCPY[tm]: The first man on Mars. --- Baikonur / Cuxhaven / Vienna Long before their competitors, the Operation CNTRCPY[tm] Kosmos Administration sent out the first manned spacecrafts in order to reach the Red Planet. On April 29th the first Kosmonaut landed on Mars, proofing CNTRCPY[tm]'s concept of low-tech, low-budget space travel. The mission turned out to be more exciting than the big-budgeted countries' approach to a race to Mars, more entertaining than standard media coverage about heroism in space. A statue of the winning Kosmonaut set up on the Red Square, Moscow, is in planning. Made from Soviet titanium, of course. --- Operation CNTRCPY[tm] (speak: 'Operation Countercopy') is a multi-user online race to planet Mars. It takes place in real time using a cellphone and a computer as interfaces. The game's target is to navigate a virtual space capsule safely through the kosmos, to respond to occuring events on the journey - and to be the first Kosmonaut to set foot on the Red Planet. Communication between players and their spaceships takes place via cellular phones (SMS) and a web interface (Flash/Java). A website (http://operation.cntrcpy.com) functions as the gateway to the Virtual Mission Control Center. The project blends 'real world' communication and virtual action in an innovative and ironic way. --- Game concept by CNTRCPY[tm] (http://www.cntrcpy.com/).
